Indeed, this amounts to analysing things in themselves. Thus, conceptual analysis was to be prosecuted in order to get clear about ‘what there is’, not merely to improve our ability to communicate such insights.

Likewise, there is the infamous paradox that bears Russell’s name. For if it is supposed that classes are themselves terms, each being a single, mentionable entity, then questions arise about the nature of the allinclusive class, the class of all classes. For to be a class at all it would appear that it must be a member of itself. The paradox arises because being maximally inclusive it must contain all other classes, including itself. This is impossible. Yet, if it did not contain itself, then it could not be the class of all classes at all.

It is not possible to have a sensible disagreement about logical laws in the way we might disagree in our speculations about the contents of a closed box. The difference between writing a well-formed logical expression and writing something that is not a logical expression at all better captures the form of disagreements about logic.
